Virtual Console VS. Original Systems.
Over the past few years, Nintendo has been releasing most of the games we have been playing all our lives for the Nintendo Wii on the Virtual Console. Now there are many people who probably prefer their original consoles rather the Wii. I want to compare and contrast the Wii and the classic console to see who is the superior.
For me, the decision would be based on the games itself, because some of the games do look better on the Wii, if you have the component cables. The cables don’t really change much, but it does make the games look a bit sharper. For example, the NES, and SNES games look really crystal clear. The N64 games are pretty much the same, but it is what it is. Its not really the graphics or the picture of the games that matter, its the feel of the games. I personally have the classic controller, and many games from the Virtual Console. To be honest with everyone, depending on what game I am playing, I would prefer the Wii. For example, If I’m playing a game from the NES or SNES, I would prefer to play them on the Wii. Reasons because that the original tend to freeze, or not work, depending on the condition of the games, or consoles. The main games that i would prefer to play on the original console are the N64 games. Basically because that the Classic Controller for the Wii is very confusing to play the games with. Granted we also have the choice in using the Gamecube controllers too, but that’s just as confusing.
The main problem with playing the N64 games on the Wii are the buttons on the controllers. For example, I play The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on the Wii also. The C buttons are just really confusing. Even with the Gamecube controller, because the C buttons turned into Joysticks. Playing the Ocarina or using weapons and items in the game get very hard, and more complicating to use. Especially with the classic controller. The classic controller is just an updated version of the SNES controller. Playing a N64 game on that thing is confusing, but doable. Gamecube controllers have the C stick, which means they have the C buttons, but made just for the Gamecube’s games. Could anyone sit there, and imagine trying to play games like Turok, or Goldeneye with the Classic or Gamecube controller? Since you need the C buttons to move Turok, and to make Bond face something accurately, it kinda makes you think right?
The more classic games though, are quite fun on the Wii. NES is very simple, take the Wiimote and turn it sideways. Done, So simple. SNES games use the Classic Controller or Gamecube controller. The best way to play games from the Virtual Console in my opinion is to play the NES games with the Wiimote only, and the SNES games with the classic controller. For N64 games, just stick with the original Console. Now i know that there are many other consoles you can download games for on the Wii, but we are talking straight Nintendo here.
Other than the controller aspect of playing the games, I would prefer playing the games on the Wii just because cartridges usually glitch, won’t work, or freeze. NES especially. That console just just defines glitch. I’m not insulting the NES, i love that machine, but we all have to agree that the NES really does glitch a lot.
If there are any readers who have any games that they play on the Virtual Console, and you read this post, don’t hesitate to leave a comment. If anybody has any certain games they want reviewed, comment on post’s and let me know.
