The Following video will help illustrate how to hook up your NES.
There are two ways to hook up your nes to your TV. You can use an RF adapter or AV wires. We will provide one or the other with each NES we sell depending on our supply of each. See below for installation instructions.
RF Switch to a TV Installation Steps:
1. Locate the TV's VHF IN [ANT, CATV, or 75(ohm)] or Cable Connector.
2. Disconnect the existing cable wire from the TV's VHF IN.
3. Connect the short, thick wire from the RF Switch (labeled ANT) to your TV's VHF IN.
4. Reconnect the existing cable wire (disconnected in step 2) to the silver post labeled ANT on the RF switch.
5. Connect the thin wire of the RF Switch (labeled Control Deck) to the back of the NES (labled RF Out).
6. On the back of the NES, set the 3/4 switch so that it matches the channel of the TV.
Note: The RF Switch does not produce stereo sound. To get stereo sound, connect your Control Deck to your TV or VCR using the Stereo Audio/Video Cable.
After the system is connected to the TV:
1. Insert the Game Pak firmly into the Control Deck.
2. Plug the controller(s) into the front of the Control Deck. Use the far left port for a one player game.
3. Plug the AC Adapter into the back of the Control Deck. Plug the other end of the cord into a wall outlet.
4. Press the Power button on the front of the Control Deck.
5. Turn on the TV and set it to the appropriate channel (3 or 4.)
6. The game image should now be displayed on the TV screen. AV to TV Note: This type of connection is not possible with the newer-style NES. Installation Steps:
1. Locate the Audio/Video inputs on the back of the TV.
2. Place the yellow end of the AV cable into the Video "in" on the back of the TV. Connect the white or red end of the cable to Audio "in" ("left" or "mono"). Use a slight twisting motion when inserting each cable and ensure the cables are firmly pressed into the input.
3. On the other end of the AV cable, plug the yellow end into the "Video" (yellow) input. Plug the white or red end into the "Audio" (red) input, on the back of the NES.
After the system is connected to the TV:
1. Insert the Game Pak firmly into the Control Deck.
2. Plug the Controller(s) into the front of the system. Use the far left port for player one.
3. Plug the AC Adapter into the back of the system . Plug the other end into a wall outlet.
4. Press the Power button in on the front of the NES.
5. Turn on the TV and locate the input select. It is often called: TV/Video, input select, AUX (auxiliary), Line, Line In, Input, Source, Select, In, or EXT (external). Switch the input select to show the Nintendo game.
6. The game image should now be displayed on the screen. You are ready to play!
This is caused by dirty or damaged pin connectors in the system or game. If you purchased the system from us the pin connector is new so the likely problem is the game. You will need to clean the games on a regular basis to keep your NES working properly.
Dip a Q-Tip in the cleaning solution (Windex or a solution of 50% isopropyl alcohol, 50% water) and rub firmly across the metal contacts in the bottom of the cartridge. Repeat until the Q-Tip comes out clean. Use a dry Q-Tip to wipe off excess solution. Once the game is dry, plug it back in and see if it plays, if not repeat the cleaning process again
You may also need to insert the games a certain way in order to get it to work. There are two things you can do to help.
1. One good trick is to not stick the cart all the way into the unit. Insert cart into NES all the way, then slide it out a little bit and push it down so that the front of the game cartridge hits the inside lip of the system . It should make a sound of impact but don't worry you won't hurt either the unit or the cart.
2. Don’t push the game down. Slide the game into the tray and leave it in the up position.
The Following video will help illustrate the steps to get your cartridge working
Make sure the AC adapter is plugged into the back of the unit securely. If you still can’t get the power to come on you may have a faulty AC adapter. Please contact us.
This is due to the new pin connector being installed in the system. The game slides into these pin connectors and since they are new it creates a tight fit. It will loosen up over time. Be assured that this is normal and this helps make the system work!
